Inspired by the hat worn by DANIEL DAY LEWIS as Daniel Plainview in THERE WILL BE BLOOD
"I have a competition in me. I want no one else to succeed. I hate most people."-- Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day-Lewis) "There Will Be Blood"
"I... drink... your... milkshake!"-- Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day-Lewis) "
-There Will Be Blood
Perhaps no movie has more famous lines recited by one actor than Daniel Plainview in 2007's "There Will Be Blood". Perhaps that is because they are delivered by the only individual in history who has won three Academy Awards for Best Actor, Daniel Day Lewis.
Based on Upton Sinclair's amazingly apocalyptic 1927 novel "Oil", a warning of the monster that has become the all-powerful oil company's monopoly and total control on our world's governments, Anderson, in his adaptation, created, in Day-Lewis' character, the embodiment of just want drives mankind to become heartless, soulless machines driven purely by profit at the expense of everything that we hold decent as flesh and blood human beings.
The first twenty-minutes of this masterpiece is silent, showing the birth of the "oil mentality" in the obsessively driven Day-Lewis (Anderson has said, that this dialogue-less opening was inspired by the opening "Dawn of Man" sequence of Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey"). And as in Day-Lewis' most memorial roles (such as "Lincoln", and "Gangs of New York"), his hat becomes as much an extension of his character as his accent and facial hair
This last hat has become a true favorite request at Baron. Like his high-crown "Bill The Butcher", it has become one of the everlasting images of great American cinema. Baron Hats is now proud to offer this hat, which we call "The Plainview" inspired by the tri-corner "Range-Rider" that Daniel Day-Lewis wears.
It is custom crafted with the same extra wide grosgrain ribbon with bow-tie finish, and matching binding and is made to order for you both the original 200XXX 100% Beaver, or in 100% Western Weight Fur Felt.
