This is the top hat that great young men of business in the early 1900’s wore to show their amazing entrepreneurship… their “business acumen” as it were. This was the time of the industrial revolution, when a great idea, and not much else (along with hard work and huge doses of luck), could make virtually anyone of any class wealthy beyond their wildest dreams. These men were known for their assurance, their poise, self-confidence and sang-froid. What, in those days was coined as “men of aplomb”. The gray top hats were worn in the day. Their straight forward shape and special pencil roll brim shouted a cool-style, and nerves of steel for making those razor sharp split-second decisions.
