I remember
one day when a famous writer-director came into our
studio wanting
a custom hat made for him. We were all big fans of
his work, and although we've had virtually every kind
of super-star of stage, screen, TV and music in our
place, we really were thrilled to be working with
this legendary talent. He was a ball of energy and
very fidgety while I was measuring his head with our
special conformature, so to
relax
him I started to ask him questions about his life.
The first was: "what was the one thing you like
best about your work?" Without missing a beat
he said: "It's when I see my thoughts go from
my head, to the computer, then into the mouths of
actors, and up on the screen for millions to see...
to watch that transformation... to see your ideas
come to life is truly something you never get tired
of... it's just magical!"
I really related to that. For us, to come up with
an idea for a hat, or to have a costume designer come
to us with their vision, and to give birth to it,
and finally see it "come to life" on the
screen is something that makes all the work worth
while!
A case in point is the hats we have created for Disney's
incredibly successful "High School Musical"
movies. Not only to see the hats on the screen, but
to walk down the street, and see a style coming to
life again. Boys and Girls, Men and Women, out in
the real world... wearing these hats!
So, in honor of the release of "High School Musical
3", which we supplied many hats for, we've created
the "Senior Class Collection", consisting
of four styles that are inspired by the hats seen
in this smash box office hit.
Three of the hats are made from specially hand-woven
"Brisa" Grade Panama Straw, by our exclusive
craftsmen in Ecuador. The body's are flown to our
studio in Burbank, CA, where we hand shape them, just
as we did the hats for the movie. They are then finished
with special over-welt brim edging, specially selected
grosgrain ribbon hatband's, and our awesome
"satin-touch" fabric sweatbands.
The fourth
hat is perhaps our most popular. It is also the most
expensive, but also this is pure elegance! It is a
true classic bowler. It is hand custom made in our
studio utilizing the highest quality 100% Sable Fur
Felt. The blocks and tools used to create the hat,
including the binding around the brim are original
equipment from the days, when men of distinction would
not be caught in public with this most stylish of
head gear!
Every hat is hand crafted under the strict supervision
of Master Hat Maker and Owner, Mark Mejia, and are
specially priced to make them affordable to the young
and the young at heart in all of us!
We also offer these hats in sizes that start at 6
7/8 and go all the way up to 7 7/8, so that everyone
from ages 8 to 80 can have one of these beauties!
Every hat in the collection can be purchased in full
or with our FlexPay Plan, in which you can pay for
the hat over three monthly payments (by special arrangement,
you you can order our "Showtime" special
hand made Bowler in four monthly payments!). There
is no interest or fee for this service, and your hat
will go into production as soon as we receive the
first payment.
Please note: The color of your hat will be just like
the original. However, because of the many variances
in computer monitors, along with the fact that we
use only natural straws, the color you see on your
screen may be slightly different that the actual custom
made hat. Rest assured, you are getting the original
hat in the original color!
