It's amazing how many requests we've
been getting for "The Aunt Fran".
Unfortunately we've had to put everyone
on a list while we waited for our Swiss
weavers to make the special Paglina that
is need to create this amazing wonder of
a hat! However, we've finally been able
to make arrangements to have each
Paglina body MADE TO ORDER. There are
only a handful of weavers who can make
the Paglina, and we didn't want to wait
any longer. So now, you can reserve your
hat! A 10% deposit will insure that a
Paglina body is made to order just for
you. Once we receive your body from the
weavers, we will
inform you and make arrangements for the
balance to be paid, and then we will
hand custom create your hat. The process
to weave the Paglina is a long and
complex one so it may take several
months until your body arrives. But once
it does, and the balance paid, you will
be assured a custom "Aunt Fran" made
just for you, in your size! And better
yet, you can pay the balance in full or

It's
not easy to steal a movie away from the likes
of Sandra
Bullock and Nicole Kidman, but Stockard Channing
did just that in the popular cult-classic "PRACTICAL
MAGIC"! As the eccentric Aunt Fran, Channing
was irresistible. Critics and the public alike
felt she was one of the highlights of a movie
that was jam packed with quirky charming moments.
Based on Alice Hoffman's best-selling
novel, "Practical Magic" follows the
Owens sisters, Sally (Bullock) and Gillian (Kidman),
as they struggle to use their hereditary gift
for practical magic to overcome the obstacles
in discovering true love (and remove, once and
for all, a very deadly curse against the men
they love!)
Channing's
overwhelming talents alone would have been enough
to steal this movie, but she was helped immeasurably
by her scene-stealing large floppy straw hat,
which seemed to have a mind, and personality
all its own! The hat and Channing seemed to
fight each other at every turn, reminiscent
of Peter Seller's rebelling hand in "Dr.
Strangelove"!
This unique and
delightful hat
has become a
favorite with

give it that
"human" floppy
quality, takes a
very special
woven straw. Usually to find these hats, one must look carefully
in the attics of grand old Aunts, since the fabric
is rarely made any more.

Special
weave now made in Switzerland, where the original
production hand- woven Paglina Straw was developed!
The original "Aunt Fran"
was made of a very rare "Paglina" straw
technique which is hand woven a strand at a time
on special looms in Switzerland.
Baron's Master Hat Maker, and owner, Mark
Mejia, found such craftsmen deep in
the Alps of Switzerland. He has made an exclusive
arrangement with them to custom hand weave
the bodies for the "Aunt Fran" to
his exacting specifications. This insures
that your "Aunt
Fran" will have the ultimate indescribably
luxuriously soft flamboyant free-flowing "alive"
feel of the original hat that Channing wore
in the motion picture with that infamous tall
crown and rambling brim! It is like no other
hat you've ever worn! To reproduce the special
color, the Swiss weavers carefully dye each
individual straw with indigenous minerals
and flowers and weave them together to create
the shimmering color combination known as:
"Warm Sunrise Red-Sunwashed Burnt Umber".
Since the bodies are all custom hand woven...
each one is unique. |
This is a hat to love and cherish. One warning, however:
this magnificent hat has been known to have its own
wonderful magic powers once you put it on your head,
so we are not responsible for all the adventures it
may take you on... not to mention all the intriguing
people who will stop to talk to you when they see
you wearing it!
Please note: The color of your hat will be just like
the original. However, because of the many variances
in computer monitors, the color you see on your screen
may be slightly different that the actual custom made
hat. Rest assured, you are getting the original hat
in the original color!
